Tenerife Holidays
Tenerife is one of the most beautiful of the Canary Islands. These
Spanish islands are located off the coast of Morocco and are exotic as well as beautiful. When planning Tenerife
holidays, it will be easy to find plenty of wonderful things to do.
Tenerife is so special that it is considered to be the Jewel of the Canaries. There
are many things to enjoy on Tenerife holidays, and just mentioning five of them will at least get you
started.
First of all, it should go without saying, that Tenerife is a perfect place to enjoy
the sun, sand and water of the Atlantic Ocean. With the spring and summer weather that exists year-round on this
island, these activities never stop.
A must see and do while on Tenerife
holidays is to take a trip to Mount Teide. Teide is a live,
snow-capped volcano and is also the location of a national park. You can take a bus tour that travels up the
winding road past volcanic rocks, large boulders, and hair-raising turns. It is also possible to drive the road on
your own and be able to stop and enjoy the scenery along the way up and down. Don't be surprised to find snow on
the car as you descend the mountain.
It is also fun to pack a picnic lunch and enjoy eating that at the
summit; weather permitting, of course.
Tenerife holidays offer the visitor the golden sands of the beach of Playa de Las
Teresitas. This is located right near the capital of Tenerife, Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The beach is man-made and
has perfect swimming water because the sands are cornered off by a breakwater.
This is a great beach for the whole family with the clean and shallow
waters. There are bars, showers and everything you need for that perfect day in the sun.
Playa de Las Teresitas is not the place for surfing, however, and the north and
northwest coastline is the best for that activity. Also at the most northwestern tip of the island is the most
breathtaking sunset you may ever see. It is worth a drive to Faro de Teno but be careful. Don't take the road in
bad weather due to possible landslides. There is a wonderful restaurant there, the El Burgado, that offers the
perfect view of the sunset.
Last, but not least, in the top five things to do is to try the delicious local
cuisine. Fresh fish is excellent. Be sure to try the Canary Island potatoes which are roasted new potatoes made
very salty. It's also a great idea to try the small local restaurants that are run by local families. They will not
only offer you mouth-watering food, but will surround you with kindness that you will not soon forget.

holidays are truly something special.
